About Beechcraft

Beechcraft’s story began in 1932 In Wichita, Kansas. The company first began with the development of their Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing, and in World War II, 270 units were produced for the United States Army Air Forces. With their war production and efforts, Beechcraft was awarded the Army-Navy “E” Award and was honored for their various military production contracts during World War II. Leading up to the 1980’s, Beechcraft developed multiple aircraft lines, including the Bonanza, King Air, Super King Air, and the Baron. On February 8, 1980, Raytheon acquired Beechcraft and later merged it with their Hawker line in 1993. Later, in 2006, Goldman Sachs acquired the company, creating Hawker Beechcraft. As Hawker Beechcraft entered bankruptcy in 2012, Beechcraft reemerged a year later and began producing some of their lines once again. In 2013, Textron purchased Beechcraft, turning Beechcraft into one of their aircraft brands as it remains in the present.
