About Sensata Technologies
Sensata Technologies was first established in 1916 as the General Plate Company. Initially, the company operated in Attleboro, Massachusetts and later merged with Spencer Thermostat Company in 1931. Under the name Metals & Controls Corporation, the newly established business obtained the capabilities of metal processing and temperature-sensing controls. The company was later merged once again with Texas Instruments in 1959, and they became a smaller division within the company. During the 1970’s, the company began to expand abroad, establishing manufacturing plants in both Malaysia and Japan. In 2006, Metals & Controls broke off from Texas Instruments as a private conglomerate, rebranding themselves as Sensata Technologies. In the following years, Sensata Technologies began to acquire more businesses and expanded upon their product offerings and capabilities. In 2010, Sensata Technologies became a publicly traded company, listing themselves on the New York Stock Exchange.
