About Souriau
Souriau-Sunbank began in 1917 when Paul-Adolph Souriau founded a car ignition coil repair company in Boulogne-Billancourt, France. By 1933, Souriau electrical connectors had been adapted for vehicles made by French manufacturer Citroen, and by 1935 Souriau developed its first connectors for the aviation industry. The company participated in the French space program in 1960, and the Concorde project in 1962. By 1963, Souriau was equipping the French fleet of nuclear submarines with connectors, and over the next ten years expanded to new locations in Cluses and Champagne. During the 1970s and 80s, the company expanded its operations into new markets, including Japan, the US, and South America.
Souraiu has also supplied connectors for both Boeing’s 747, 757, and 777, and Airbus’s A380. 2011 brought the greatest change to Souraiu’s corporate structure as they joined the American aviation company Esterline. Two years later, Esterline acquired Joslyn Sunbank, a California based aviation connector manufacturer, and merged the two into Esterline Connection Technologies. In 2019, Transdigm acquired Esterline and renamed the connector company to Souriau-Sunbank Connection Technologies, to reflect the history of the two companies. Later that year, the company was acquired by Eaton, who operates the company under the name Souriau-Sunbank.
