About Warner Robins Air Logistics Center
Warner Robins Air Logistics Center (WR-ALC) provides support facilities and equipment for Robins Air Force Base units. With a population of nearly 40,000, the center is responsible for logistics, medical, civil engineering, security, and morale services. The center’s focus is to perform sustainment and depot maintenance on U.S. Air Force weapon systems such as the AC-130, C-5 Galaxy, C-17 Globemaster III, C-130 Hercules, E-8 Joint STARS, EC-130, F-15 Eagle, HC-130, HH-60 Pave Hawk, MC-130, MH-53 Pave Low, RQ-4 Global Hawk, U-2 Dragon Lady, and UH-1 Iroquois aircraft.
Construction of the complex began in 1941. It took on roles focusing on aircraft procurement and sustainment to aid the war effort during WWII. Throughout the war, the center trained over 250,000 personnel who would go on to serve in maintenance, supply, and logistics operations in every theater of war.
Following the conclusion of the war, personnel was reduced to approximately 3,900. However, as the Cold War began and the Korean War took place, the center quickly saw a resurgence in its production needs. Personnel focused primarily on refurbishing B-29 Superfortress aircraft for use in Korea. The center would eventually be a source of material for U.S. forces during the Vietnam War.
WR-ALC was directly involved in supporting Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, deploying personnel to both Europe and the Persian Gulf to provide extra manpower for aircraft maintenance. Today, the complex provides depot maintenance of the Air Force’s entire fleet of helicopters and special operations aircraft as well as strategic and tactical airlift aircraft such as the F15 Eagle.
