About Renesas Electronics Corporation
Renesas Electronics was formed in 2010 through the merger of NEC Electronics Corporation and Renesas Technology, both of which formed in 2002 and 2003 respectively. After the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, Renesas began to restructure themselves to improve profits through consolidation and sales. Over the next few years, Renesas would begin to increase their profits and started to successfully acquire businesses such as Intersil Corporation. In 2017, Renesas showcased a self driving car and announced that it would be delivering products for self driving cars to compete against companies such as Intel. Currently, Renesas continues to expand their business and acquisitions.
