About Burndy

Burndy was first established in 1924 as the Burndy Engineering Company, founded by science historian Bern Dibner. While working in Cuba to unify the electrical system, Burndy developed a universal connector that would not need to be soldered or welded for utilization. He later patented the design and formed the company for production. Burndy was a family owned business for its initial years, and it later went public in 1956. In 1988, the French corporation Framatome Connectors International bought the company. Later in 2009, the company was acquired again, this time by Hubbell. Today, Burndy’s focus lies in electrical connector manufacturing for the commercial and industrial sectors, utilities, renewable energy, telecommunications, and OEM markets.
