L3Harris Commercial Aviation is an aerospace company based in Crawley, United Kingdom that offers flight training and produces civil flight simulators. The company is a subsidiary of L3 Technologies, an American technology company, defense contractor and information technology services provider that produces C6ISR systems and products, wireless equipment, tactical radios, avionics and electronic systems, night vision equipment, and both terrestrial and spaceborne antennas for use in the government, defense, and commercial sectors. L3 Harris Commercial Aviation was formed after L3 acquired the civil fixed-wing simulation division of Thales Training & Simulation. L3 Commercial Aviation was incorporated in 2006 under the name “L-3 Communications Group Limited” and acted as a holding company for the U.K.’s L-3 group. Thales Training & Simulation was acquired in 2012 and the company’s name was changed to “L-3 Communications Link Simulation and Training UK Limited.” May 2015 brought the foundation of subsidiary L-3 CTC after the acquisition of CTC Aviation, and a year later L-3 Link UK and L-3 CTC were combined in L3 Commercial Aviation. In 2018, L3 and Harris announced a merger, with the new company taking the L3Harris name.

The company’s core products are the RealitySeven flight simulators, which cover a huge array of aircraft types including turboprop ATR72, Embraer E2, Boeing 737, 747, 767, 777, 787, as well as the Airbus A320, A330, A350, and A380.

ETHOS Systems Knowledge Suite: A multi-dimensional flight simulation program combining cockpit familiarization, aircraft systems, general subjects, FMS skills, as well as practice examinations. The simulator is designed to provide students with interactive training at their own pace. 

Virtual Flight Deck: An all-inclusive simulation of an aircraft system and flight deck for PC. It provides real-time interaction with any flight system allowing users to master any flight procedure and gain experience handling emergency situations. It was developed using aircraft and avionics OEM data, which is utilized by simulation engineers to develop real-time simulation models. 

Flight Management System Trainer: L3’s Flight Management System Trainer (FMST) provides pilots with the opportunity to develop and practice flight management skills in a realistic environment. Avionics are fully integrated and the aerodynamics and engine models offer capabilities to set the thrust, flaps, slats, speed brakes, and landing gear, allowing for a more legitimate experience of piloting an aircraft.
