About Panasonic

Panasonic Corporation is a Japanese multinational electronics company, headquartered in Kadoma, Osaka. Panasonic was first established in 1918 as Matsushita Electric, and their initial operations consisted of the manufacturing of lightbulb sockets. In 1927, the company began to diversify their product offerings, introducing a line of bicycle lamps. In World War II, they further increased their manufactured products to include motors, electric irons, light fixtures, wireless equipment, and vacuum tubes.

After the war during the 1960’s, the company began to grow internationally, producing television sets for the United States under the name Panasonic. As their original name could not be trademarked in the United States due to it being already used, the company decided to create the Panasonic brand. This foreign market proved successful, and the company began supplying rice cookers, microwave ovens, electrical builders, fridges, televisions, and more to the United States.

Meanwhile, in Japan, Panasonic was reaching into new industries, as they debuted a high-fidelity audio speaker in 1965. This spearheaded a line of stereo components which quickly garnered popularity worldwide. During the following years, the company would also release turntables, record players, and other specialized electronics for niche markets.

Leading into the 2000’s, Panasonic oversaw domestic and international growth with the formation of new plants, offices, and began acquiring other businesses to expand upon their operational capabilities. Leading into the present, Panasonic has focused on its various market sectors, overseeing various restructuring, formation of subsidiaries, and sales.
